NOIDA Junior Invitation Squash Tournament, 14th April 2008 

The NOIDA Junior Invitation Squash Tournament April 2008 organized by the Gautam Buddh Nagar District Squash Rackets Association - affiliated to the U.P. Squash Rackets Association, was played from 11 April 2008 to 13 April 2008 at the NOIDA Stadium complex.

The three day event received tremendous response and the excitement generated in the sporting circles was for all to see. Days one and two saw intense battles on the squash courts at the NOIDA Stadium, boiling down to intense semi finals and finals on the last day. Parents and children alike thronged the venue in great numbers and there was never a moment without excitement and expectation. In all 80 children participated in the 3 day event.

Some 100 numbers of matches were played during this time.

  • U 15 Boys - Winner – Kush Kumar, Runner-up - Deepak Mishra
  • U 13 Boys - Winner – Kush Kumar, Runner-up - Divij Singh
  • U 11 Boys – Winner – Aditya Khatri, Runner-up – Divyanshu Sharma 
  • U 15 Girls – Winner – Shria Khatri, Runner-up - Sachika Ingle
  • U 13 Girls – Winner – Pankhuri Malhotra, Runner-up - Adya Advani

British Junior Open Squash Championship, 2-6 Januray 2007

Anaka Alankamony (Chennai) and Saumya Karki (Maharashtra) did well to finish 3rd and 4th respectively in the Girls Under-13 age group. Sachika Balwani had lost to Saumya Karki in the 4th round..

Mahesh Mangaonkar (Maharashtra) reached the highest round for any Indian boy at the tournament, losing in the quarter-final to Nematullah Khan of Pakistan. Aditya Jagtap, even though ranked 2 in European Circuit, was surprisingly drawn to meet the top seed Amr Khalid Khalifa (Egypt). Aditya lost to him in the 3rd round 9-2, 9-2, 9-2. Ravi Dixit and Ramit Tandon also lost in the same round.

In Boys Under-17, Cyril Kuhn lost in the 3rd round to Ivan Yuen seeded 5-8, who eventually finished 3rd, while Karan Malik lost in the first round.

In the girls Under-15, Ankita Sharma reached the 3rd round, losing to 5-8 seeded Hariet Ingham (England). Dipika Pallikal, seeded 5-8, lost to 9-16 seeded Misaki Kobayashi (Japan) in the 3rd round.
