‘PROUD
TO PLAY SQUASH’ |
||
|
From now on Rizvi springfield’s (Bandra) Rahil Fazelbhoy
will proudly say that he plays squash. Yesterdays he clinched the boys’
U-13 title of the MSSA inter-school squash tournament at Bombay Gymkhana
squash courts. It was also his maiden title. Rahil’s school friends always teased him about playing
squash. “My friends bugged me a lot that I play squash. I did not like
that but I couldn’t leave squash. So I used to hide from them that I
still play,” Rahil told MID DAY. But all that has changed after his thrilling 3-2
win against Vrishab Kotian of Don Bosco (Borivali). “Now I will proudly
say that I play squash because now I have won the first title of my
life,” said Rahil after he won 11-8, 8-11, 9-11, 11-8, 11-8. Rahil is one of the few from his school to pursue squash seriously. “Everybody in my school wants to play cricket because they have won many tournaments. But I was not interested in it. I wanted to do something else. So I chose squash. My teachers encourage me but not my friends. I want their support just like other players get here,” he said. FINALS : Boys U-11 : Kunj
