Rahil Fezelbhoy Sails into Final

Third seed Rahil Fazelbhoy from spring field High School beat second seed Vrishab Kotian of Don Bosco Borivali in the MSSA Nike annual Inter-school tournament oraganized by Indian squash professionals at Bombay Gymkhana on Saturday.

Rahil played attacking game from the word go and held a healthy lead in the first game and comfortably won at 11-6. In the same attacking mood he won the next game at 11-6. Vrishab Kotian would not give in so easily so he held his nerve and went along with his rival to keep the score bored even and eventually won at 11-9.

Rahil after losing his third game banged his racket on the court and came crying out, since he never likes to loose. 

In the fourth game Rahil did not allow any chance to Kotian to catch up with him his score and took an early lead and finish the match at 11-5.

 

Abhishek All The Way

Top seed Abhishek Pradhan of Don Bosco (Borivali) bt Rahil Fazelbhoy of Springfield High school to win the Boys u-16 title of the MSSA Nike annual inter school squash tournament organized by Indian squash professionals played ay Bombay Gymkhana yesterday.

Abhishek showed better all-court play and was clearly the better player.

In the girls u-13 final. Top seed Jui Kalgutkar of St Anthony’s Girls (Chembur) claimed the title beating Gayatri RAHEJA (Dhirubhai Ambani International) 13-11, 11-1, and 11-0.

In the girls u-16 top seed Ankita Sharma of Arya Vidya Mandir (Juhu) bt NAMRATA Purohit of Arya Vidya Mandir (Bandra) 11-7, 11-7, 11-4.

Yohann Surti of St Mary’s ICSE bagged the Bournvita confidence champion award. He collected a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-.

 

 

Abhishek Pradhan Wins School Squash Title

Top seed Abhishek Pradhan of Don Bosco, Borivali defeated Rahil Fazelbhoy of spring field high school to win the Boys U-16 title of the MSSA Nike tournament organized by Indian squash professionals played at Bombay Gymkhana here on Sunday.

In the girls U-16 top seed Ankita Sharma of Arya Vidya Mandir, Juhu bt Namrata Purohit of Arya Vidya Mandir, Bandra 11-7, 11-7, 11-4. Yohann Surti of St. Mary’s ICSE bagged the Bournvita confidence champion award; he collected the cash prize of Rs. 5000/-.

It was an easy three games win for Abhishek Pradhan as the Scoreline suggests. Abhishek had the ability to win all sorts of point with ease, whether in front or back of the court. Rahil Fazelbhoy was made to run all over the court and did not have any clue to win over the points. After the match Abhishek Pradhan had a praise of word fro Rahil Fazelbhoy said he is a very talented player but lacks in experience ans maturity, later on he will be a force in the competition.

In the girls U-16 top seed Ankita Sharma 14 year ninth standard student also had an easy victory over Namrata Purohit in three straight games. Namrata did give a fight to Ankita but could not match her speed. In the first two games Ankita took an early big lead, which helped her to win the games easily, but in the third game Namrata lost her focus on the game and Ankita finished her demolishing act to win 11-4.

Yohann Surti who bagged the Bournvita confidence champion is a nine-year-old 4th standard student is trained by his own father, who is also a regular squash player from Bombay Gymkhana who participates in the city club’s tournament. Yohann Surti lot to Kunj Rawani in the boys U-11 9-11, 2-11, 7-11.

 

Anmol Struggle to Beat Ayesha

St. Gregorious Anmol Gill was in a spot as dropped the first game, but then fought back to score impressive win over Bombay International’s Ayesha Khandelwal 8-11, 11-4, 11-6 to enter the girls under –16 quarterfinals of the MSSA-NIKE Inter school squash tournament, played at Bombay Gymkhana courts, here on Friday.

On a day when most of the matches were one sided, Podar International’s Sumar Rao was given a fright by St. Mary’s ICSE’s  Natahni Mishaal before he prevailed at 7-11, 11-6, 11-6.

 

Rahil Stuns Second Seed Vrishab to make Final

Rahil Fazelbhoy, the no.3 seed from Springfield, stunned second seed Vrishab Kotian of Don Bosco, Borivali to make the boys Under-16 final of the Nike-sponsored inter –school squash tournament at the Bombay Gymkhana courts on Saturday. Rahil won 11-6, 11-5, 8-11, 11-5. Top seed Abhishek Pradhan easily beat fourth seed Naman Jiandani 11-4, 11-8, 11-4 in the other semifinal.

 

Rahil To Meet Top Seed Abhishek In Squash Final

Third seed Rahil Fazelbhoy of springfeild High School beat second seed Vrishab Kotian of Don Bosco, Borivali, in one of the semi-finals of the MSSA-Nike inter school squash tournament organized by Indian squash professionals (ISP) at Bombay Gymkhana on Saturday.

Rahil will now meet top seed Abhishek Pardhan in the final on Sunday. Abhishek from Don Bosco, Borivali, beat Naman Jiandani.

Rahil attached from the word go and held a healthy lead over Vrishab throughout the first game and comfortably won at 11-6. He maintained the aggression and clinched the next game at 11-5.

However, Vrishab was in no mood to give up. The second seed held his nerve to keep the scoreboard even and eventually won the third game at 11-9. Rahil was relentless in the fourth game. He took an early lead and did not give Vrishab and chance to catch up with his score. Rahil finished the match at 11-5.
