Second seeds Yohan
Pandole and Arman Darukhanawala upset the top seeds to
clinch the boys’ under-19 and under-11 titles,
respectively, in the Matunga Gymkhana Junior Open Squash
Tournament.
The CCI duo registered exciting wins
over the favourites to change the script as Pandole
halted Rajat Sharma of Delhi 3-1 after the crucial
fourth set stretched well into extra points for a
thrilling finish, while Darukhanawala overcame Kanhav
Nanavati of Tamil Nadu by the same margin after enduring
an early challenge.
In another close championship
round, top seed Ananya Dabke of Maharashtra helped
herself to the girls under-11 crown following an
exciting 11-3, 12-10, 11-6 win over scond seed Diksha
Aurobindo of Tamil Nadu.
The other title winners
were, Navmi Sharma, Koel Shankar and Dev Vazirani of
Maharashtra, Sakshan Choudhary of Delhi and Krish Kapur
of West Bengal who lived up to their reputations.
