The Junior Nationals were held from 21-25 October 2009 at Day College, Indore at their squash facility with 8 court including 3 old non-glass back, and two brand new glass back ones. This year's Junior Nationals was a great one.

Watched by Ian Thomas, head coach of Jonah Barrington's Squash Academy where he is training, Mumbai lad Aditya Jagtap was crowned U-19 champion at the National Sub-junior and Junior Squash Championship at the Daly College courts at Indore. It was a doubly sweet night for Maharashtra as in the girls section, they claimed three out of five titles through Saumya Karki (U-17) who surprised the superior Anaka Alankamony of Tamil Nadu, Urvashi Joshi (U-15) and the Nikita Joshi (U-11).

Aditya defeated Tamil Nadu's Ramit Tandon 11-8, 11-8, 11-5 in the U-19 final. He had lost to Vikram Malhotra in last year's final when he could have played in the U-17 event. Said Ravi, Aditya's proud father,``Aditya has been winning from the U-13, U-15 and U-17 ranks and this was his fifth final. He maintained the display of fast and powerful squash and sailed through the tournament without dropping a game. His movement on court was swift and he was ever keen to play attacking squash.''

Aditya is studying in Millfield School in Somerset,England. In March he was part of the team that won the National Squash title. Egypt's world junior champ Mohamed El Shorbagy and younger brother Marwan played at No 1 and 2 for Millfield, Aditya at No 3 and another Indian Adit Zaveri at No 4.

Aditya said about his show,``The semi-final against Karan Malik was the tougher event. I did not expect Ramit to make the final I thought I would meet Ravi Dixit.'’

Asked about his England stint, Aditya said,``I am studying in the 12th standard and will hope to go to a US for collegiate studies.'’

57th National Squash Championship

Saurav asserts his class, Joshna wins nineth crown (Indore : 20/12/2009)

Saurav Ghosal affixed his stamp of authority as he toyed with Harinder Pal Singh on way to a 11-2, 11-5, 11-3 victory in the men's final of the Kingfisher 57th National squash championship.

Though the two train together in Leeds and know each other's game inside out, there was a distinct difference in class. While the 20-year-old Harinder Pal tried to use power to stay in the match, Saurav teased him with his deft play and mixed up the pace nicely to baffle his opponent.

More than winning his fifth National title, and the fourth on the trot, the 23-year-old Saurav was happy that he was able to entertain the packed
