Deepali Anvekar the former international, has become
Dr Shruti Parikh. She kept Joshna guessing with her hard and soft shots in
the first game. But her body was not up to it for a longer tussle and
Joshna claimed the title with a winning 10-8, 9-5 and 9-5. The Otters club
has consistently organized this event splendidly. As a result the Otters
Open is an event that players look forward to keenly.

Saurav Ghosal and Joshna Chinappa claimed the main
titles in the Rs 3-lakh Indian Oil Otters Squash Open. The 18-year-old
Saurav Ghoshal bagged a magnificent double winning the boys under-19 and
men's titles.
While Saurav eased past Manek Mathur 9-5 9-6, 9-2 in
the under 19 age group final, he brushed aside No 3 seed Gaurav Nandrajog
9-0 9-4 9-2 in the men's final.
Ghosal, ranked a career high No. 74 on the
Professional Squash association (PSA) rankings can pick up the balls for
hours together. And he hits the ball hard, which is a virtue in squash.
Left-hander Manek Mathur who was playing the best squash of his career was
troubling Ghoshal at times with his persistence. But he was up against a
returning machine and had to wilt. Vikram Malhotra was another player who
established his supremacy in an age group he has just entered.
Nandrajog tried to slug it out but Ghoshal's
experience is such that he can get the better of even Ritwik Bhattacharya
as he proved in last year's final here. Ghosal won Rs. 68,000 for his twin
triumphs. He said ``The new things I have been trying out are working out
pretty well.''
