Consistency
was the keyword for Sandeep Jangra, as the youngster representing Jindal,
culminated his series of fine performances by deservedly gaining top
honours with an impressive straight games triumph over Sarvesh Chauhan in
the singles summit clash of the Club-Aquaria-ISP Men’s Top 8 &
Doubles Open Squash Championship, organised by the Indian Squash
Professionals, played at Club Aquaria, Borivali yesterday.
Having a good run in the three-day championships following his sustained
efforts, Jangra who had earlier accounted for Rohan Gracious in the semis,
held the sway against Chauhan in the finals too, planting a facile 9-3,
9-4 win.
The title in the doubles section however was decided after a much closer
affair in which Khar Gymkhana’s Sanjay Goyal and Rohan Gracious met a
stiff resistance from Otters Club team of Tushar Bambani and Mohammed
Merchant before grafting a hard-fought 9-7, 10-8 win.
For the record, the championships carried a total prize money of Rs
27,000.
