Sonawane-Batra pair emerge champions

Rajesh Sonawane and Bipin Batra of Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana (WCG) claimed top honours in the Club Prana Spa & Fitness Center-ISP Doubles Squash Tournament, an invitation handicap tournament involving 16 doubles pairs from the top clubs in the city. 

In the final, the WCG duo overcome Dhiraj Nagpal and Rajesh Rajani of Khar Gymkhana in the final at the Hyatt Regency squash courts on Monday. 

In the semi-finals on Sunday, Nagpal and Rajani defeated Rohan Gracious and Jay Thapa of Kamla Vihar Gymkhana 15-12, 15-10, 9-15, 15-7 and Sonawane and Batra got the better of Sonu Mirani and Shashi Gupta of Sindh Society Gymkhana 7-15, 15-11, 8-15, 15-12, 15-8.

 

Batra-Sonawane supreme

The Combination of Rajesh Sonawane and Bipin Batra of Willingdon Catholic Gymkhana emerged supreme in the Club Prana Spa & Fitness Center-ISP Doubles Squash Tournament, defeating Dhiraj Nagpal and Rajesh Rajani of Khar Gymkhana 15-12, 9-15, 15-14 at the Hyatt Regency yesterday. 

After sharing a game each, the pair of Nagpal and Rajani was leading 12-14, before Sonawane and Batra leveled scores. Nagpal decide to play a one point tie-breaker to decide the match and it was ironical that after a long rally, Nagpal found the tin when attempting a drop shot.
