The draw for the men’s invitation top-16 squash tournament will be held on July 25, 6pm at the Khar Gymkhana. All the participants are requested to be present.

The tournament is organised by the Maharashtra Squash Professionals under the auspices of the Squash Rackets Association of Maharashtra. It is sponsored by Kanakia and Monarch Builders.

The semi finals of the Monarch & Oven Fresh handicap squash tournament (team event) will be held on July 26 from 6pm onwards at the Khar Gymkhana.

Khar Gymkhana won the Monarch, Oven Fresh and Shiva Marketing sponsored handicap Squash team event when they defeated Otter’s ‘A’ 3-2 in the final on Sunday.

In the match to decide the third and the fourth place, Otter's ‘B’ got the better of Leela Kempinski to win a prize money of Rs.5,000.

For their triumph Khar Gymkhana won Rs.10,000 in cash, while Otter’s ‘A’ got Rs.7,000.

Paul Ferriera, Arif Paul, Akhil Behl, and Niraj Shirgaokar will be participating in the Ovenfresh Monarch handicap squash tournament, co-sponsored by Shiva Marketing which commences on May 13.

Eight teams will be taking part the league, the leading ones being Otters Club, The Leela, Juhu Centaur and Khar Gymkhana.

The first round of the handicap Squash Tournament (team event) organised by Maharashtra Squash Professionals commences today.

The tournament is co-sponsored by Ovenfresh, Shiva Marketing and Monarch Builders and it carries Rs.25,000 as prize money.

The winner will get Rs.10,000 loser Rs.7,000, Rs.5,000 and 3,000 and the third and the fourth place.

In all there are eight teams participating in this tournament which will be held on a Round Robin basis. Top players like Arif Patel, Paul Ferriera, Akhil Behl, Niraj Shirgaokar, Manish Chotrani, Mangesh Nadkarni, Cyrus Poncha and star player Chandrakant Pawar are the tough contenders to play in this tournament. An other attraction in this tournament is Abbas Sayed Ali an actor, whose new movie is going to be released very soon and also the winner at the Khar Gymkhana .

Otters Club plays a very significant role in this tournament as they have sided four teams with all the top players distributed in of the four groups.

The tournament will be played alternatively every Saturday at Khar Gymkhana, Otters Club and Juhu Club.

The inaugural matches will be played today between Arif Paul’s team (Otters club) and Abbas Sayed Ali’s team (Centaur Hotel), at Khar Gymkhana, Akhil Behl’s team (Otters Club) and Mansih Chotrani’s team (Otters Club) at Juhu Club, Mahendra Agarwal’s team (The Leela) and Niraj Shirgaokar’s team (Otters Club), at Otters club.
