Amitoj Inder
Singh: (the
highest
qualified squash coach in India)
Amitoj Inder Singh is the leading
Squash Coach in India with qualifications that rate amongst the
highest in the world. His qualifications include National
Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) Level 3 (candidate)
from Squash Australia, the highest squash
coaching qualification in the world; NCAS Level 2 in Coaching Principles;
Asian Squash Federation Level 2 and NCAS Level 1 from Australian
Strength and Conditioning Association.
He
started coaching in 1997 at Yadavindra Public School, Chandigarh.
Within a year the schools U-12 Squash team won the All India Inter
School Championship in its maiden appearance in the event. Amongst
various other results, the most noteworthy is his trainee, Harinder
Pal Singh Sandhu winning the Scottish Boys Under-13 title in 2001. This
was the first win by any Indian boy at the event, arguably the second
most prestigious junior tournament after the British Junior Open.
Harinder had been introduced to Squash just 3 years back by
Amitoj.
After
coaching for 6 years in various schools simultanously, he coached at the Cricket Club of India, Bombay, since April
2003 to
September 2004,
running the CCI Squash Academy where 50 Juniors of various age groups
and levels upto International level trained. Now,
he is
working for Indian Squash Professionals (ISP) and gives coaching to
players in
various clubs in Suburbs and South Mumbai.
He
is working on bringing coaching know-how and information to other
coaches in India through courses designed for the Indian scenario.
In
addition to coaching, he writes articles on Squash in various
newspapers. He is the Honorary Secretary of Chandigarh Squash Rackets
Association.
