Amitoj Inder Singh is the leading Squash Coach in India with qualifications that rate amongst the highest in the world. His qualifications include Accreditation as Level 3 (one of only seven in the world) from Squash Australia; National Coach Accreditation Scheme, Australia Level 2 in Coaching Principles; Asian Squash Federation Level 2 and Level 1 from Australian Strength and Conditioning Association.

 

He started coaching in 1997 at Yadavindra Public School (YPS), Chandigarh. Within a year the schools U-12 Squash team won the All India Inter School Championship in its maiden appearance in the event. Amongst various other results, one of the most noteworthy is his trainee, Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu winning the Scottish Boys Under-13 title in 2001. This was the first win by any Indian boy at the event, arguably the second most prestigious junior tournament after the British Junior Open. Harinder had been introduced to Squash just 3 years back by Amitoj. Presently, Harinder is ranked India No-2 and is also Professional Squash Association world ranked player now. Another player coached by Mr. Singh is Aditya Jagtap, who is the only Indian player to reach the Quarter Final of a World Junior Open Championship (2010). In addition, almost all the players who have originated from Mumbai and have performed well internationally in the last 4-5 years have been coached at some stage by A. I. Singh.

After coaching for 6 years in various schools simultaneously in North India (YPS, Welhams Boys' School, Bishop Cotton School etc), he coached at the Cricket Club of India, Bombay, from April 2003 to September 2004, heading the CCI Squash Academy where 50 Juniors of various age groups and levels upto International level trained.  Since two years, he is presently the Head Coach at Khar Gymkhana Squash Academy, Mumbai, an academy that is focused on developing high performance players. It has about 50 players training at its modern a/c facility with 3 courts, and experts in various fields handling respective areas like Fitness, Flexibility etc.

Mr. Singh also coaches individuals at various locations in Mumbai.

He is working on bringing coaching know-how and information to other coaches in India through courses designed for the Indian scenario. He conducted a course for coaches (22-25 January 2011), attended by 16 coaches from across India.
