'I will only talk to you if you don't print it!'

The elusive NOEL TATA, half-brother of RATAN TATA, gets cornered into revealing his reading habits (or lack of them!) and his love for squash

You will hardly see him make a public appearance.. be it a party or an event. Noel Tata admits that he absolutely loathes speaking to the media.

“Its useless to chase me. I am not going to give an interview to anybody. I will only talk to you if you dont print it,” Ratan Tatas half-brother and the man at the helm of various Tata companies says with a straight face.

Anticipating that he is not that serious, we pressed him with a few more questions and he obliged! The first one was whether he is hosting star author Jeffrey Archer — who is in India for the launch of his latest book — at his place? “Yes, I am hosting Jeffrey today (May 3) at my place and I am quite looking forward to it. He has been a friend for a long time now,” said Noel.

Ask him what he likes reading and he surprises us by saying reading for pleasure is not really his thing.
“I am not too fond of books, really. I mean story books or novels or thrillers though I have read quite a few novels. When I do read, I read management stuff and books on business maybe. I am not really into (pleasure) reading. I like the serious stuff,” he says.

So, what does he do when he is not working? “When I am not working, I go ahead and play a game of squash. Yeah, I know that the game can be very physically taxing for me. But I can still manage the stamina to play a few consecutive games at the court,” he ends.
